The musical instrument is a strange item. First, everybody is attracted by its strikingly beautiful shape and typical material. If it is closer to us we can smell its fragrance. If we take it we can perceive its lightness or heaviness, its warmness or coldness. The instrument is always more compelling for us and we desire to hear which sounds this magic item emits.
Our exhibition wishes to emphasize these wonderful properties of musical instruments which became original and unique thanks to folk manufacturers. The visitors can see a lot of remarkable and rare instruments in the exhibition but, of course, they cannot take them in their hands. The exhibition has been designed to guide the visitor through separate acoustic spaces, which present particular musical instrument exhibited in those spaces. We want the visitors to have a feeling they go through particular musical instruments, perceive their simple shape and typical material. The corresponding room can even emit music played with the corresponding instruments. The selected musical instruments could play their own short record into the earphones. We would like to awake people´s emotions, raised by the first tune of the new instruments, a mixture of surprize and astonishment at the unexpected experience. The exhibition room is full of instruments and music.
